Collaboration is a hot topic on the supply chain agenda – indeed, 2degrees is devoting a whole session to discussing it at theSupply Chain Summit.To give you a little inspiration, here are a few collaborations we’ve seen over the last year.

1. Interface, Aquafil and the ZSL: Net-works project

5. United Biscuits and Cargill: Driving innovation
Snack-foods firm United Biscuits (UB) has teamed up with Cargill for three years in a bid to develop products and drive innovation across Europe. UB, the company behind brands such as McVitie’s, has recently renewed its commitment to innovation in the sweet category – to update its product offering and win more customers. Meanwhile, Cargill’s reach across the whole supply chain and its strategically-located production facilities, enables it to guarantee security of supply of products in time - a sweet win-win.
6. AkzoNobel, Enerkem, Groningen Seaports, InnovationQuarter and more: Waste-to-chemical feedstock
A major Dutch partnership, featuring the likes of AkzoNobel, is working with Canada's Enerkem to explore the use of waste streams as a feedstock for chemical production. Within the next two to three years, the partners are aiming to have a plant in Delfzijl or Rotterdam and will become the first in Europe to utilize the new technology.

Jeans giant Levi’s has teamed up with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) to offer financial incentives for garment suppliers in developing countries. The IFC’s Global Trade Supplier Finance (GTSF) program adopts tiered pricing of short-term financing for garment suppliers – offering those that score well on Levi’s own environmental and social monitoring system lower costs for borrowing.
8. Timberland and Omni United: Tires into footwear
Old tires on your feet? A new collaboration between clothing firm Timberland and the tire manufacturer Omni United will end with exactly that – launching a new轮胎的行会变成鞋底at the end of their life. The collaboration was actually conceived three years ago, when the sustainability teams from both brands came together to address a shared concern: that the tire and footwear industries are two of the largest users of virgin rubber.

10. SRA and Costa Coffee: New rating system
The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) has joined forces with Costa Coffee to develop a scheme that helps more than 10,000 cafés become more resource efficient. The rating is supposed to go ‘beyond the beans’, taking into account a café’s entire operations in reducing their environmental impact, treating their staff fairly, and supporting their local community.
11. Ikea, Tetra Pak and Kingfisher: FSC certification
Tetra Pak is teaming up with retailers Ikea and Kingfisher to promote the benefits of responsibly-sourced timber and to truly understand the role of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. In a two-year program, the companies aim to develop a methodology to analyze the impact of FSC certification, enabling businesses to understand what value they derive from specifying FSC certified timber and paper through their procurement policies. “As a retailer I understand the devastating impacts of supply insecurity,” sums up翠鸟的可持续发展总监理查德必威体育2018·吉利斯。
