She is one of two staff members responsible for opening the new Arkansas office.

Michelle's primary areas of responsibility include chemicals, alternative energy, human and environment interactions, sustainability training for Walmart buyers, sustainable forestry, agriculture and seafood, nanotechnology, carbon life cycle inventory and analysis and facilitating strategic coordination among environmental organizations engaged with Walmart.

Prior to joining Environmental Defense Fund, Michelle ran a consulting business in sustainable forestry and agriculture focused on facilitation, strategic planning and project management.

In May, with very little fanfare, Walmart introduced a new tool known as GreenWERCS that assesses the composition of chemical intensive products -- which amounts to just about any non-food item on a Walmart shelf that you can pour, squeeze, dab or otherwise apply to your body or use in or around your home or car.
