Simon Propper
Simon Propper graduated in chemical engineering in the ‘80s, with a sense that all was not well in industry and a conviction to do something to make business greener and safer.
His first job after college, was in consumer protection, with the UK regulator for advertising standards. There, a mishap with a premium brand toilet tissue commercial, claiming to “help counteract the greenhouse effect,” sparked his interest in environmental consulting.
During five years with a leading UK technical consultancy in the early 90’s, Propper was instrumental in crafting some of the very first sustainability reports from UK corporations. A chance meeting with Peter Knight, the environmental correspondent for the金融时报》, gave birth to Context, with the vision of an agency combining sustainability strategy with communications.
Over 21 years since founding Context, Simon Propper and Peter Knight have developed the agency’s services and client base in Europe and America, working for multi-nationals across sectors from mining to marketing.
Today, Propper leads Context’s US team, based in Los Angeles, still focused on sustainability strategy and communications. His recent emphasis has been to make social media work effectively for corporate sustainability communications.
